Bob Eipert, Certified HERS Rater

What is a Certified HERS Rater?

RESNETA certified HERS Rater (Home Energy Rating System) is an individual who has been accredited by the Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET) - a non-profit organization founded to help homeowners reduce the cost of their utility bills by making their homes more energy efficient. HERS Raters inspect and test homes to evaluate each of the minimum rated features established by RESNET Mortgage Industry National Home Energy Rating.

The national training and certification standards for HERS were created by RESNET and are recognized by federal government agencies such as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the U.S. Mortgage Industry.

What is the difference between a Certified HERS Rater energy audit and other energy audits?

IECC information for KY and TN - Science & Technology
- Education
- Equipment
- Recognition

In the past, most energy audits included mainly weatherproofing by sealing or replacing leaky doors and windows and increasing insulation in attics.

Today, more information about energy efficiency is available than ever before. Advanced tools and equipment provide a scientific approach to saving energy.

Advanced equipment, such as blower doors, duct blasters and infrared cameras, can pinpoint problem areas and the amount of air leakage in places not previously accessible.

Certified HERS Raters also use software that has been tested and developed by U.S. National Laboratories and RESNET to prepare an Improvement Analysis Report.

The combination of the equipment, education, proven software, and local energy rates will be used to diagnosis energy improvement options as well as calculate the energy cost savings.

We can assist builders and homeowners with designing a home for comfort and energy efficiency.
